Key Account Manager

 
Navigator MSL, the UK’s leading independent distributor of plumbing supplies and products is looking for a Key Account Manager to join us on our path toward continued growth. You will be responsible for growing sales with large national distributors, buying groups and OEM’s. These types of accounts represent a major opportunity for us, and therefore the Key Account Manager must build and maintain strong relationships with this sector of the market.

You will also bring in new business from existing contacts of this type and will develop new relationships with potential clients. You will be the lead point of contact for all key client matters, anticipate the client’s needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for the client are met, and help to create a profitable product offer for each client.

Navigator is growing at an exponential rate; this new role will report to the Managing Director and has the potential to grow with the business leading into a more senior appointment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing a solid and trusting relationship with current and prospective key clients
  • Resolving key client issues and complaints
  • Developing a complete understanding of key account needs
  • Anticipating key account changes, offering improvements and reducing risks
  • Managing communications between key client teams and internal departments
  • Strategic planning to improve client results
  • Negotiating contracts with the client and establishing a timeline of performance
  • Establishing internal budgets with the company and external budgets with the client
  • Working with design, sales team, marketing, logistics, managers, and team members from other departments (such as accounts) to ensure the trading relationship runs smoothly
  • Collaborating with the sales team to maximise profit by range addition, up-selling or cross-selling
  • Planning and presenting reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders and directors
  • Meeting all targets and deliverables according to proposed timelines
  • Analysing client data to provide customer relationship management
  • Expanding relationships and securing new business at area or national level
Key Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Four to five years’ previous work experience in sales, management, key account management, or relevant experience within the plumbing supplies industry
  • Able to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently
  • Goal-oriented, organised team player
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Confidence in dealing at a senior management level within major organisations
  • In-depth understanding of company key clients and their position in the industry
  • Eager to expand the company with new sales to major distributors & buying groups
  • Able to analyse data and sales statistics and demonstrate pathways to profitable solutions & results
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or a relevant field is beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person
  • Strong negotiation skills, with ability to help manage implementation of client contracts
  • Ability to multitask and manage more than one client account
  • Proven results of delivering client solutions and meeting sales goals
